Mariano Cowen, President of Gymnastics and Fencing of La Plata regretted the incidents in which club fans insulted the front in a racist manner Hugo Rodallega during the match for the group stage of the South American Cup.
The manager maintained that what happened was quite sad and assured: “I found out later, the game ended, during the game I didn’t hear it. It’s very sad, I know the club, we work against all forms of discrimination, xenophobia, racism. It’s very sad, the truth is that intolerance is a problem more and more frequent in society. This hurts us,” sure.
“The only thing that needs to be clarified is that if I had seen this yesterday, I would have gone to apologize to Rodallega in person. What is wrong is that we were respected and well treated in Colombia. This is a problem of society in general, not from Argentina”pointed out.
Cowen recorded the problems his delegation had during their match in the Colombian capital. “We were very mistreated there, with xenophobic insults against our delegation. But this separated it from what happened yesterday, which seems very sad to me”he claimed.
“We are going to make ourselves fully available to Independiente Santa Fe and we are going to start an internal investigation to try to determine where this came from, if they are members of the club because we have the resources that the statute gives us to sanction this type of thing and what we want to do. We don’t have to naturalize any insults, we as leaders don’t have to neutralize them,” concluded.
