Kevin McCarthy: Three ways the House Speaker’s impasse could finally end

Don Bacon, a centrist Republican from Nebraska, previously expressed his willingness to work with Democrats to pick a compromise speaker if McCarthy fails. Fred Upton, a former Republican congressman from Michigan with moderate credentials, has expressed a willingness for him to run as a coalition pick (a speaker is not required to be a current member of Congress). And there has been talk of incentives for Democrats, such as rule changes that would allow them to introduce legislation or more power in committees.
